According to ChainCatcher, according to CoinDesk, the Bitcoin token protocol BRC20 has taken a step towards implementing Ethereum-style smart contracts. According to an announcement disclosed on Monday, the Bitcoin token protocol has integrated Ethereum virtual machine (EVM) into its core logic since the 912,690th block of Bitcoin. The upgrade, known as BRC2, was completed by Ordinals protocol developer Best in Slot and BRC20 anonymous founder Domo. Eril Binari Ezerel, CEO of Best in Slot, said meta-protocols such as Ordinals had previously relied on "calculator-style" indexers, and with the integration of EVM, the BRC20 would have Turing completeness. Domo further stated that the ultimate goal is to integrate two gold standards: Bitcoin is the most decentralized and secure network, and EVM is the most mature virtual machine, allowing users to experience the composable and programmable features of Ethereum, and enjoy Bitcoin-level security.
