Huobi HTX reported that the UK Financial Conduct Authority proposed a proposal to fully incorporate cryptocurrency companies into its regulatory framework, promising to establish a system that reflects traditional financial rules, and adjust it according to the specific risks and characteristics of the digital asset market.
While the proposals reflect many requirements that have been applied to other financial companies — including operational resilience, senior management accountability, strong systems and controls, and financial crime prevention measures — the new cryptocurrency standards will be “moderate”, the regulator said in a consultative filing released Wednesday. The FCA’s goal is to protect consumers, reduce financial crimes, support growth, while ensuring UK companies remain competitive internationally.
Feedbacks are expected to be submitted in October and November, and the final rules are expected to be released in 2026 after further industry consultations on specific activity requirements.
