Polkadot will launch elastic expansion through 1721 referendum

According to Foresight News, Polkadot issued a statement saying that Polkadot passed the 1721 referendum last night and officially entered the 2.0 era. The referendum marks the end of the parachain slot auction narrative, aiming to solve the high threshold problems in version 1.0, including canceling slot auctions, compatibility with EVM environments, improving liquidity, etc. The new elastic expansion mode will replace slot auctions, providing developers with a more flexible way to enter. Polkadot Hub's growth plan is expected to start in the first quarter of 2026, when inflation in DOT will drop to 3.1%.
