BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes has shifted his investment focus from memecoin like PEPE and MOTHER, which he once called “shit” to high-yield DeFi protocols such as EtherFi, Ethena and Hyperliquid. He now believes memecoin is “too risky” and stresses the importance of projects that can generate real income and share profits with token holders. Hayes expects that by 2028, the DeFi ROI of his choice will be as high as 130 times by 2028, driven by the growing stablecoin adoption rate and the capital pursuing profitability. While he remains bullish on Bitcoin, predicting its price could reach $700,000, he also believes that DeFi protocols that can reward community stakeholders will have more room for asymmetric upside.
