Google announces investment of £5 billion to promote the development of artificial intelligence in the UK

According to Huobi HTX, Google (GOOG.O) announced that it will invest 5 billion pounds (about 6.8 billion US dollars) in the UK within two years to help the country build an artificial intelligence economic system. The tech giant disclosed the plan as U.S. President Donald Trump is preparing to announce an economic deal worth more than $10 billion during his visit to the long-term ally this week. The investment will cover its artificial intelligence unit DeepMind and AI research related to science and healthcare, according to a statement released by Google on Tuesday. Some of the funds will be used to build new data centers in Waltham Cross to meet the growing demand for Google services, including search and maps. Google said the investment is expected to support 8,250 jobs in the UK each year.
