Rich Widmann, head of strategy at Google Web3, posted an announcement on Google Cloud's L1 blockchain, Google Cloud Universal Ledger (GCUL), and GCUL opens a waitlist. According to the official Google Cloud document, GCUL can provide digital asset issuance, management and settlement experience. Its atomic settlement function reduces risks and improves liquidity. It is investigating how to transfer value through secure transaction media that are secured with assets protected by bankruptcy and provided by regulated agencies, such as central bank deposits or money market funds. "In addition to supporting Google's release, GCUL is also a neutral infrastructure layer. Tether will not use Circle's blockchain, and Adyen may not use Stripe's blockchain. But any financial institution can build it using GCUL."
