According to Cointelegraph, former SEC chairman Gary Gensler said in an interview with CNBC that he has no regrets about his crypto enforcement strategy during his tenure and called crypto assets "a highly speculative and very risky asset."
Gensler left the SEC on January 20, 2025, when Trump took office as U.S. President. Trump threatened to fire Gensler on his first day of office during his campaign. After leaving office, Gensler returned to MIT to teach.
Trump proposes that the SEC cancel its quarterly report and change it to once every six months. Current Chairman Atkins said the proposal would be considered. Gensler believes that reducing the frequency of reporting may lead to increased market volatility.
