OpenAI and Luxshare Precision reach a hardware manufacturing agreement to launch its first device by late 2026 or early 2027

According to Golden Finance, sources said Luxshare Precision has obtained an assembly contract for at least one OpenAI device. In addition, OpenAI also contacted Goertek, which assembled AirPods, HomePods and AppleWatch, hoping to supply components such as speaker modules for its future products. According to people familiar with the matter, OpenAI's planned products include similar display-free smart speakers, and also considers developing products such as glasses, digital recorders and wearable brooches. The release date of the first batch of devices is scheduled to be in the end of 2026 or early 2027. OpenAI is focusing on the AI ​​hardware field and accelerating the poaching of Apple's corners. It has reached a hardware manufacturing agreement with Luxshare Precision and is in contact with Goertek. In addition, OpenAI has recruited more than 20 employees in the consumer hardware field from Apple this year.
