IG Group acquires majority stake in crypto exchange Independent Reserve for $72 million

According to Foresight News, according to CoinDesk, IG Group has acquired a majority stake in Australian cryptocurrency exchange Independent Reserve for $72 million, and IG will initially acquire 70% of Independent Reserve and have the option to buy the remaining 30% based on future performance. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to be completed in early 2026, with a total amount of AUD 178 million (USD 117.6 million). The company said the deal is intended to strengthen IG's growth in the Asia-Pacific region. Independent Reserve is one of Australia's regulated cryptocurrency platforms, and it also supports transactions in 34 cryptocurrencies in the Australian and Singapore markets.
