Tristan Thompson uses Somnia to bring basketball fans to the chain

NBA champion Tristan Thompson will launch a Web3 platform Basketball.fun, which is expected to go live in October, in partnership with Improbable CEO Herman Narula and co-founder Hadi Teherany. The project is based on the Somnia blockchain tokenize NBA players and fluctuates value in real time based on player performance and fan sentiment, allowing users to build a player roster, predict player talent and receive rewards. Unlike the token-centric model, the project focuses on in-app value pegged to user engagement. The team chose Somnia for its scalability and shared long-term vision and plans to have an early preview during South Korea’s blockchain week.
