India leads Google Nano Banana trends and incorporates local creative elements

Google's Nano Banana AI model (formally named Gemini 2.5 Flash Image) has pushed India to become its largest user country since its launch last month, with unique local trends such as retro Bollywood portraits and AI saris quickly gaining popularity. The app ranked top in both the App Store and Google Play rankings in India, with 414,000 daily downloads, an increase of 667% after updates. Although India ranked first with 15.2 million downloads this year, its in-app purchases accounted for only 1.5% while the United States accounted for 35%. Amid growing concerns from users, Google detects AI-generated content through watermarks and SynthID tools to address privacy issues.
