Ethereum Foundation will suspend application for open funding and will redesign funding methods

According to BlockBeats, on August 29, the Ethereum Foundation issued a statement saying that the Ethereum Foundation (EF) funding program was launched in 2018 and gradually evolved into an Ecosystem Support Program (ESP), which helps the Ethereum ecosystem thrive by providing funding and support. In 2024 alone, ESP allocated nearly $3 million to 105 projects and initiatives through web forms of publicly funded programs. To fit more closely with EF’s updated ecosystem development strategy, the Foundation is adjusting ESP’s priorities and approaches. As part of this transition, applications for open funding have been temporarily suspended. This change will provide the foundation with time to redesign, shifting its focus from reactive to more proactive models while supporting other EF team priorities. Funding of Ethereum public products will continue to be carried out and applications will be accepted, but new approaches will be adopted, and specific details will be released in future posts.
