In the first half of 2025, cryptocurrency-related crimes exceeded US$1.93 billion, exceeding the losses for the full year of 2024. The Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chain suffered a hacker loss of more than $220 million, while Solana lost only about $18 million. Certora CEO Seth Hallem attributes Solana's security to its Rust-based architecture, wider language adoption, and reusability. Although Ethereum has higher TVL, making it more easily targeted, Solana's hacking volume is still relatively low, at just 0.12% of TVL, compared with Ethereum's 0.22%. Hallem highlights the role of auditing agencies like Certora, which has received over $9 billion in funding on Solana, as a key intermediary for trust and security in the ecosystem.
