Metaplanet confirms acquisition of Japan's largest Bitcoin domain name

Metaplanet Inc., known as Japan’s “micro strategy”, has acquired the Bitcoin.jp domain name to support its newly formed subsidiary Bitcoin Japan Inc.. The domain will be used to host events such as Bitcoin Magazine Japan and the 2027 Bitcoin Japan Conference, as well as advertising and affiliate programs. Purchases of the domain will be made directly from the owner without intermediary and will be considered an intangible fixed asset. Metaplanet holds more than 20,000 Bitcoins (BTC) worth $2.35 billion, with a goal of increasing its holdings to 21,000 Bitcoins (BTC) by 2026.
