Coinbase urges U.S. Department of Justice to curb state government cryptocurrency enforcement actions

Golden Finance reported that cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is escalating its conflict with state regulators, which has sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) asking it to step in after federal regulators dropped cases against the exchange earlier this year. In a 14-page letter issued Monday, Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal proposed that the Justice Department should push Congress to pass a comprehensive federal priority bill to prevent states from taking enforcement action on digital assets regulated by federal law. "When Oregon can sue us for services that are legal in federal law, it means something goes wrong," Grewal wrote on social platform X. He described the current state-level law enforcement as "government is doing something wrong."
