Shiba Inu's layer 2 network, Shibarium, encountered a $2.4 million bridging vulnerability attack on September 13, causing SHIB to fall 12% and BONE to plummet by more than 43%. The attacker used Lightning Loan to temporarily control most of the validator's interests and stole 224.57 ETH and 92.6 billion SHIBs. Lead developer Shytoshi Kusama confirmed that the team freezes 4.6 million BONE and transfers funds to hardware wallets. However, community members criticized him for his recent focus on AI projects without addressing known security issues.
