Circle Internet Financial has launched a new integration that enables AI agents to automatically pay for online services using USDC. The system is built on Coinbase's x402 protocol, reactivates the HTTP 402 status code, allowing the Web service to request on-chain payments before executing a data request. This facilitates automated microtransactions of API calls without manual intervention or traditional subscription methods. The solution uses Circle’s developer control wallets and is protected with MPC technology, allowing AI agents to programmatically manage funds and authorize payments. Demos for Langchain and GPT-4o mini show how agents create wallets, top up them through the testnet, and pay risk reporting fees.
