Golden Finance reported that according to foreign media reports, the property tax agency in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA said that Federal Reserve Director Lisa Cook did not violate the rules in filing property tax relief for his main residence. The discovery could strengthen Cook's defense of the Trump administration's efforts to remove her from the Fed. Ann Arbor City assessor Jerry Markey said there was “no reason to believe” that Cook violated the property tax rules. Cook does sometimes live elsewhere, and municipal records show she has applied for permission from Ann Arbor authorities to rent the Michigan residence for a short term. The official said leaving the residence for a short period of time or renting it out for a short period of time will not deprive Cook of Ann Arbor's property tax relief. “Temporary living elsewhere does not necessarily result in a homeowner losing the primary residence exemption,” Markey said.
