Zcash's Secret Weapon: Zooko Wilcox's Mixed Consensus Gambling

Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox (now head of product at Shielded Labs) is leading the agreement’s transformation into a hybrid proof of stake system called Crosslink to ease the pressure on issuance of new coins and enhance scalability. This upgrade will enable ZEC staking rewards, improve transaction finality and support cross-chain bridges. The upgrade was backed by investors such as Winklevoss twin brothers and Vitalik Buterin. No specific implementation timetable has been announced yet.
