According to ChainCatcher, according to cryptonews, South Korea sentenced three related associates to V Global to three years in prison, probation and each under 5 years of protection observation, and fined 660 million won (about 474,000 US dollars), 426 million won (about 306,000 US dollars) and 259 million won (about 186,000 US dollars). The court found that the three had solicited customers for the "disguised exchange" through multi-level marketing, helping to defraud about 50,000 investors, with the amount involved in the case of about US$1.4 billion.
The judge said in the verdict that the three "used the crypto asset boom to cause astronomical losses", but also made a probation sentence considering that some of the victims had received rebates. Previously, V Global's CEO was sentenced to 25 years in prison by the South Korean Supreme Court as the principal culprit in 2023, and several other senior executives were sentenced to 14 years and 4 years.
