In early 2021, MoneyGram terminated its partnership with Ripple due to a lawsuit from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and then chose Stellar as its consumer-facing stablecoin solution. After Ripple's lawsuit was settled in August 2025, Ripple expanded its payment channels and achieved asset tokenization on XRPL, while also extending its custody partnership with the Spanish Foreign Bank (BBVA) in Spain, with the XRP price breaking $3.20.
