Hong Kong's leadership in green finance and innovation

Hong Kong Financial Secretary Chan Mo-po emphasized in his latest blog post that Hong Kong is leading the field of green and sustainable finance in Asia. He stressed that we should not only pay attention to the quantity of financial products, but also provide innovative solutions to meet the diverse development needs of different countries and regions. Catastrophic bonds and infrastructure securitization are typical examples of such innovations. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKA) is actively exploring how to use tokenization to enhance the issuance and trading of carbon credits through the Ensemble sandbox project. The project aims to improve the liquidity and depth of the carbon market and further consolidate Hong Kong's position in the field of green finance.
