California lawmakers pass AI Security Act SB 53, but Newsom still has the potential to veto

Source: CoinWorld
The California Senate approved the SB 53 Act, an AI security bill that requires large AI companies to disclose security protocols, establish whistleblower protection mechanisms, and create a public cloud (CalCompute). The bill is currently awaiting the final decision of Gov. Newsom, which stipulates that companies with annual revenues of less than $500 million are not required to submit detailed reports. The bill faces opposition from Silicon Valley companies and venture capital firms, and Anthropic supports it, believing it can serve as a governance blueprint in the absence of federal standards.
