Golden Finance reported that BlackRock executive Rick Reed's ranking rose on the Fed's chairman's list of competitors, according to a U.S. government official. During a wide-ranging two-hour talks in New York on Friday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Bescent and Reed had in-depth exchanges on issues such as monetary policy, the Fed's organizational structure and regulatory policies. So far, Becent has interviewed four of the 11 candidates who are publicly considered to be on the consideration list, and has emphasized that the selection process is still in progress. There are likely to be one or two more candidates to join this shortlist in the future. Reed is one of BlackRock’s most senior executives who manage the company’s fixed income business. It was revealed that Becent was impressed by Reed's long-term experience in leading large teams in the financial markets and his deep understanding of the micro and macro factors that affect the economy. If Reed becomes the Fed chairman, he will bring a calm style and an in-depth understanding of financial institutions outside the banking system. In addition, Besent particularly appreciates Reed's ability to use forward-looking frameworks to assess economic trends rather than relying solely on lagging historical data.
