PeckShield initially said that the THORChain protocol was attacked and lost about $1.2 million, but later corrected that the user's personal wallet was attacked. ZachXBT said it is likely that John-Paul Thorbjornsen's wallet was stolen by North Korean hackers on Tuesday. Thorbjornsen admitted that the attack originated from a fake Zoom link sent by a friend's hacked Telegram account. He said that the old MetaMask wallet that was emptied was in another logged-out Chrome configuration, and the key was stored in the iCloud keychain, which could be accessed by the attacker through a zero-day vulnerability, which made him more convinced that the threshold signature wallet is the only real protection method.
