UK trade groups lobby for blockchain technology into British and American technology bridge

According to Coinjie.com, on the eve of US President Trump's visit to the UK next week, British trade groups urged the government to include blockchain technology in any scientific and technological innovation cooperation agreement it signed with the United States. In a letter to British Commerce Secretary Peter Kyle on Thursday, more than a dozen groups representing the financial, technology and cryptocurrency industries said distributed ledger technology should become a “core component” of the “British-American technology bridge.” The letter, signed by representatives from the UK Crypto Assets Business Council, the British Financial Association and The CityUK, stated: “Excluding digital assets from the British-American technology bridge will be a missed opportunity. When other countries, especially in the Middle East and Asia, make progress in setting standards that will shape future finance, the UK is at risk of being left behind.” The letter has also been sent to Secretary of Economic Affairs Lucy Rigby, whose office is usually responsible for overseeing the government’s approach to regulating cryptocurrencies. The letter stressed that "stablecoins and asset tokenization are strategically important to both economies. Without coordinated actions, British companies will face risks of fragmented regulatory environments, reduced opportunities to enter transatlantic markets and increased competitive pressures."
