On September 10, 2025, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Cryptocurrency Task Force held a meeting with the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) to explore the regulatory approaches to tokenized securities, focusing on investor protection and market integrity under existing frameworks. Discussions include designing a regulatory sandbox for testing tokenization models while ensuring compliance with custody and ownership rules. The two sides agreed to strike a balance between innovation and regulatory transparency and emphasized that tokenized securities should retain traditional classifications and operate in accordance with existing market rules. Previously, the working group also recently held meetings with Kraken and Robinhood on similar topics.
