The Nepal government briefly banned 26 social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube and X, triggering national protests, and Prime Minister Ka Palmer Sharma Oli announced his resignation. The ban was implemented on Friday and was lifted on Monday. However, violent clashes in Kathmandu killed 19 people and police even used live ammunition to deal with protesters. Protesters attacked government buildings, set fire to the Parliament and expanded their appeals to address governance issues and youth unemployment. Oli's resignation came after the attack on his residence, marking a critical moment in Nepal's political crisis caused by cyber dissatisfaction.
