According to ChainCatcher, 107 analysts surveyed by Reuters almost agreed that the Fed would cut interest rates by 25 basis points on September 17 as weak job markets overshadowed the impact of inflation risks. Most analysts expect further rate cuts in the next quarter.
Employment growth stagnated in August, coupled with a sharp downward revision of employment data over the past 12 months, prompted economists to lower expectations, believing that the Fed could implement more rate cuts. The market has fully digested the rate cuts in September, and three rates are expected this year.
Michael Gapen, chief U.S. analyst at Morgan Stanley, said the possibility of a 25 basis point cut in September is higher than a larger rate cut.
