Report: Latin American developers prefer Ethereum and Polygon over new blockchains

Source: CoinWorld
According to Bijie.com, on September 11, a report by consulting firm Sherlock Communications showed that the Latin American developer community is increasingly inclined to develop in mature blockchain ecosystems like Ethereum and Polygon rather than launching new base layer protocols. The study included qualitative feedback from 85 developers from Bolivia, Mexico, Brazil and Peru, and the results showed that developers in the region prioritized transparency, coordination, and compliance. They prefer intuitive tools, comprehensive documentation and a proven track record, which makes networks like Ethereum and Polygon a perfect fit. On-chain data analysis in the report supports this trend. Researchers analyzed 697,000 blockchain transactions related to Latin American wallets and found that Ethereum accounts for more than 75% of transactions marked in the region between June 2024 and June 2025. Meanwhile, Polygon accounts for 11% of the total activity during the same period. Polygon’s adoption in the region continues to rise, and by June 2025, its activity has nearly doubled to 20%.
