The Office of the Inspector General pointed out in a statement that the Bureau of Labor Statistics had previously announced that it would reduce the collection of data on two inflation indicators that play a key role in the U.S. economy, namely the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the Producer Price Index (PPI). In addition, the Bureau of Labor Statistics recently lowered the estimate of the number of new jobs in the monthly Employment Situation Report.
