According to Golden Finance, U.S. President Donald Trump nominated Brian Quintenz, who served as chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), published several text messages between him and Gemini co-founders Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss. The move hints at why the twin brothers might have tried to intervene in his nomination for the agency. In an X post posted on Wednesday, Quintendz said he made public the text messages out of concern that Trump could be "mistaked" by the Gemini co-founder. The text message shows that Taylor Winkelworth mentioned a civil case between Gemini and the CFTC in a message sent to Quintendz, which was settled with a $5 million fine in January. βThe CFTC has completely abused the privileges of the deliberation process and many other abuses of power that we cannot even justly defend ourselves in court,β Winkelworth wrote in a text message to Quintendz on July 25. According to the future CFTC chairman, the brothers are seeking certain assurances to avoid what they call the agency's "lawfaretrophy hunting" and he said he is reluctant to provide them.
