On Wednesday, there was a rare mass confiscation incident on Ethereum, with 39 validators being punished for infrastructure issues involving third-party staking providers. The incident is related to SSV Network and operators such as Ankr and Allnodes, and is caused by operational errors during maintenance and migration, rather than protocol vulnerabilities. Each validator faced an ETH confiscation immediately, with one losing about 0.3 ETH ($1,300). This is one of the largest associated confiscation incidents since Ethereum switches to Proof of Stake (PoS), highlighting the critical role of operator due diligence in validator security.
