AT&T shares have risen nearly 30% so far this year after EchoStar and SpaceX reached a $40 billion spectrum redistribution agreement. AT&T obtained a $23 billion spectrum license from EchoStar, enhancing its 5G network capabilities in more than 400 U.S. markets. Meanwhile, SpaceX acquired EchoStar’s remaining AWS-4 and H-block licenses for $17 billion, enabling Boost Mobile users to access Starlink Direct to Cell services through AT&T’s infrastructure. The FCC supports these protocols to facilitate competition and next-generation network connectivity, which is expected to be fully implemented in mid-2026.
