Indian Federal Minister Jayant Chaudhary announced that his cryptocurrency investment has grown by 19%, and is currently worth US$25,500 (INR 21.31 million). This marks the second consecutive year that members of India’s cabinet disclosed their digital asset holdings amid the continued regulatory challenges of India’s broader cryptocurrency policy. Choudhury's spouse also revealed that its portfolio grew by 18% to US$26,800 (INR 2.242 million). Both attributed the investment funds to “personal savings” but did not specify the type of cryptocurrency they held.
Chainalysis released the 2025 Global Cryptocurrency Adoption Index shows that India continues to lead the world, but its regulatory framework is still far behind grassroots development. Earlier today, India vetoed a comprehensive cryptocurrency regulation on the grounds of systemic risk concerns.
