According to BlockBeats, on September 10, Metaplanet announced that it had raised approximately 204.1 billion yen (approximately US$1.366 billion) through the international issuance of new shares, with an issue price of 614 yen per share and a discount rate of 9.93%. This issuance will add 385 million shares, with a total share capital of approximately 1.141 billion shares after the issuance. The funds raised will be mainly used to: Buy Bitcoin: approximately 183.7 billion yen. Metaplanet has used Bitcoin as its main reserve asset since 2024 to hedge the risk of depreciation of the yen and inflation and enhance long-term corporate value. As of September 1, the company has held 20,000 BTC with a market value of approximately 3.22 trillion yen. Bitcoin-related income business: approximately 20.4 billion yen, used to expand the income business obtained through Bitcoin option trading. The company has achieved 109.4 billion yen related revenue in the second quarter of fiscal year 2025. Metaplanet said it will continue to promote strategic Bitcoin allocation, use capital financing to increase BTC holdings, and strengthen the long-term competitiveness of enterprises.
