Security Challenges and Institutional Adoption of XRP Ledgers: Strategic Analysis

XRP Ledger (XRPL) ranked last in Kaiko’s 2025 blockchain security assessment with a score of 41/100, lagging behind Ethereum (83), Polygon (44) and Stellar (45). The main vulnerabilities include the impact of xrpl.js in the 2025 supply chain hacking incident, limited decentralization of validators (there are only 35 unique nodes by default), and the lower Satoshi Nakamoto coefficient. Despite these concerns, Ripple emphasizes XRPL’s 99.999% uptime over 13 years, recent compliance upgrades such as native KYC/AML features, and a good third-party audit record, which complement the ranking improvement.
