MetaMask and other crypto wallets are threatened by new Android malware

A new type of malware called "RatOn" is a complex remote access Trojan (RAT) targeting cryptocurrency wallets such as MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Phantom and Blockchain.com. The malware was first discovered in June 2025 and became increasingly active in August, automatically hijacking the wallet by launching applications, using stolen PIN codes, and extracting recovery phrases. RatOn supports multiple languages and can avoid detection by most antivirus engines, posing a significant threat to cryptocurrency holders.
