U.S. Department of Justice seeks to confiscate $5 million worth of Bitcoin in SIM attack case

Odaily Planet Daily News The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a civil forfeiture lawsuit against Bitcoin (BTC) worth more than $5 million, and U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the funds were allegedly ill-gotten gains from multiple SIM card exchange attacks targeting victims across the United States. The funds are traced back to theft of the cryptocurrency wallets of five victims and the unauthorized transfer of cryptocurrency, which occurred between October 29, 2022 and March 21, 2023, the indictment states.
