Binance Pay expands South Africa's cryptocurrency payment options

Binance Blog has released a new article announcing its partnership with Zapper to expand Binance Payment’s services in South Africa. The partnership will enable more than 31,000 South African merchants to accept cryptocurrency payments through Binance Payment, significantly expanding their global merchant network to over 63,000. The program aims to integrate cryptocurrencies into daily transactions, supporting Binance’s mission to enhance financial freedom by providing more diverse payment options. Binance Payment is a secure, contactless, borderless payment feature within the Binance app, enabling users to send, receive and use digital assets instantly without paying a handling fee. Binance Payment supports peer-to-peer payments in over 400 digital assets and merchant transactions in over 100 cryptocurrencies, providing flexibility for a wide range of currencies and use cases. With over 45 million users worldwide, the service facilitates transactions from bill sharing to booking flights. The partnership with Zapper marks an important step forward for Binance Payment in global expansion, especially in South Africa, which aims to incorporate cryptocurrencies into daily life such as dining, shopping and car refueling. Zapper is a well-known South African payment service provider known for its QR code-based payment system. This collaboration with Zapper allows millions of South Africans to use Binance payments in numerous places. This includes popular chains such as KFC, Wimpy and Mugg & Bean, as well as retailers such as Dis-Chem and Baby City. Users can also purchase household items on Coricraft and Yuppiechef, or book air tickets through FlySafair. Major gas stations including Total and Sassol also participated in the cooperation, making cryptocurrency payments more flexible and available online and offline. This integration not only provides users with more payment options, but also allows merchants to access a growing technology-based customer base. To celebrate the launch of Binance Payment, starting from September 9, 2025, Binance Payment will provide a 50% cashback discount for transactions conducted by merchants participating in the Zapper platform. This offer is designed to encourage South African users to try cryptocurrency payments and provide a cost-effective digital asset trading experience. By inspiring early users, Binance Payment and Zapper aim to promote cryptocurrencies as a practical tool for everyday consumption and demonstrate their uses outside the investment field.
